ACTIVISTS

Kevin Blowe is co-ordinator of Netpol, the Network for Police Monitoring. Netpol seeks to monitor public order, protest and street policing which is excessive, discriminatory or threatens civil rights. They recently launched a new Charter For Freedom of Assembly Rights in response to the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill.

Emily Apple is an activist with Kill the Bill Cornwall. In 2007, she was a co-founder of the FitWatch campaign against police surveillance of protestors by ‘Forward Intelligence Teams.’

Sheffield Against the Policing Bill is a campaign group building solidarity to oppose the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill in Sheffield.

Graeme Hayes is Reader in Political Sociology at Aston University. He is joint Editor of Environmental Politics and Consulting Editor of Social Movement Studies, and has published widely on non-violent action, environmental movements, and protest traditions
